A victorious and prosperous new year, beloved brothers and sisters in the Lord!

This is exactly our prayer for you this 2016—that you will find not only joy but, also, victory and prosperity, because this is the will of our Father in heaven. As John 10:10 says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” This is what we call zoe life, or a life that is truly life.

However, although this zoe life is God’s will for all of us, it is NOT automatic. God and man must work hand in hand, but how?

Vision. “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” (Proverbs 29:18)

It all starts with seeing. As we have been discussing, God has a glorious plan for all of us, already designed even before we were born into this world. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” And this plan—His vision—is what we must see and seek, or else we will just be walking through 2016 blindly. So let us start this year by reading and meditating the Bible. This will serve as our compass because this is where the very promises and commands of God are all written.

God’s plans, no matter how grand, will amount to nothing if we will not act. In the same way that faith without works is dead, vision without action is just a mere illusion. So whatever plans God is placing in your heart, work with all your might to DO. But be aware that this not just a simple act, but an act of obedience. In Deuteronomy 28:1-2, it says there that blessings come through obedience. “IF you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow ALL his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.” So do not hesitate to act on and carry out God’s commands, and blessings are sure to follow!

With these two keys—vision and action—we can be excited to face this new year. While we are uncertain of what it holds for us, we are certain of one thing: for as long as God is on our side (His glorious visions for our lives), and for as long as we are on God’s side (our actions towards God’s visions), we have zoe life—a blessed, abundant, victorious and prosperous life… a life of joy and satisfaction that can only be found IN Jesus Christ.

Shalom and blessings to Hong Kong!
